One Step Forward...

Was another slow day as I struggle to get the grips with what im trying to achive here. I made an easy £4.76 on Venus Williams to win her 4th round match today, I should have left it at that for the day putting me on target but then had a small punt Stand In Flames to place at 1.92 in the last at Windsor - just got beat into 4th.

Disappointing although encouraged i didnt chase that bet and decided that was it for the day. Leaves my balance more or less the same as I started the day. Im now 4/6 and betting quite randomly, not sticking to the intial lay horses to increase abnk by 3%. I think maybe the lay of Tax Free has put me off laying horses.. I need to get back to winning ways tomorrow and a confidence boost.

Serena Williams is 1.33 to beat Radwanska in the 1/4 final - Looks tempting will check out her opponent before i bet though.

Balance £105.63 - Day 3.

Old Habits Die Hard...

Oh dear, got home yesterday afternoon to see my balance was down to £88.77 after Tax Free had won - lesson learned! I not quite the master layer yet, the next race was the 320 and had a quick look at the forum and Dazz was tipping up First Boy e/w which was trading at 2.04 for the place I chased my previous losses and had £13.77 to place (rounding my balance down to an even £75)

Watching the race the horse looked beat with two flights to go but was scrubbed along around the turn and cruised past the front three to win the race! Wish i would have had to win too.. (hindsight is a wonderful thing). I was annoyed with myself for allowing myself to chase exactly the kind of behaviour this challenge was supposed to stop me doing!!

Anyway on to the Euro2008 final and i layed 0-0 for £5 and was relived to see Torres score a quite magnificent goal after 36 minutes. Job done - I will look at the horses today or maybe a punt on the tennis. Usually some good opportunites in the tennis.

Balance is now £107.12.

Steady Start

I have started my challenge yesterday with a decent lay. I laid Lady Grace at 14's to win £3, i am looking to avoid Handicap Races and laying horses on their debut. Watching Lady Grace come in last was quite satisfying although slightly nerve racking as i stood to lose around £40. Anyway i was quite pleased and started looking for potential lays this morning and came up with Tax Free. I managed to lay it at 5.4 for £3 which makes my liability only £14, myboycharlie and benbaun should beat this horse so heres hoping! Tax Free is now currently 7.2 so I feel even more satisifed with my lay.

Off now for the afternoon to catch some sun and food shopping - yawn. Might try and watch the race on betfair on my mobile if dont get too much earache while im out! Will look at Euro2008 final as well.. I fancy a 0-0 lay as Spain always create chances and the Germans have been scoring freely too.

Introduction

After a up and down week where I experienced the highs and lows of gambling I realised i needed to refocus, on Tuesday this week I was stupid enough to withdraw £300 and play the roulette in the local bookies. The first spin hit one of my big numbers and was instantly £92 in profit and decided to collect it and leave £92 up – I would have liked to have played longer but knew I could well end up £300 down.

I have also been following a very decent Tipster service (well the past results were excellent) but the two months I have been following have been very costly. The service gave two short priced favourites and hoping the tide would turn I backed the first one for £25 (my usual bet is £10, I like to have a comfortable points/bank ratio). Watching the horse come no where near winning I was quite upset with myself for increasing my stakes based on impulse – I then followed the second tip and backed for £55!! Needless to say it didn’t win, at this point I was fuming with myself as I lost all discipline and had chased my losses.

This was when I decided to I needed to tighten up and regain my previous discipline, it had been a strange few days for me as it was out of character – maybe I was having a bad day and felt the need to play the roulette? I still get pissed off with myself thinking about the £80 blown on two horses – was tempted to deposit more cash and back Spain to beat Russia that evening but decided to cut losses for the day and regroup. Of course Spain went on to a 3-0 win against Russia, if I had backed it no doubt it would have been 0-0 and Spain to win in extra time!!! Ah well…

I have been paying particular attention to a thread on the Betfair forum titled “£100 becomes £137,920.12”. The concept is starting with a bank of £100 picking one horse a day to get beat a day for a year at BF odds of 51.0 or less paying 5% commission. An interesting theory initially seems very do-able? Of course, easy I think to myself! I have put £100 into my account and see if I can follow this through, I have taken encouragement from other forumers who have started this and going well.

It will be a good test of patience and discipline something I have been lacking recently; it also gives me a target to work towards. I would love to be able to reach £500 - £1000 using this system, for the time being im going to work out a set of rules to follow i.e. what type of race, conditions etc. I will also look at laying correct scores/results in Football games as im more comfortable with Football.

My aim is to increase my £100 bank by a minimum of 3% per day. I will not restrict myself by how many bets I have if i feel its a good opportunity.
